Welcome. I am Lisa and I am the mom of an angel.

My Story

I realized the other day that my quest for health goes back a LONG way.  When I was 17, I joined the local rowing team.  I learned a lot of great things! BUT…  I learned how to drop 10 pounds in a week, just to make a weight category.  I learned how to run in garbage bags and sweat out the weight. I learned how to dehydrate myself and not eat for days at a time.

It took me 8 years to retrain my brain and learn the healthy and effective way to lose weight and keep it off.

Then I had kids….

I completely lost sight of myself and my health and felt horrible.  I couldn’t stand the way I looked and wouldn’t undress in front of a mirror.  The extra weight didn’t help my post-partum depression either.

I got tired of the  different medications the doctor used to treat my depression and decided to try exercise as a means to feel better. It worked!  I was so tired that I actually started to sleep again! That was all the encouragement I needed to keep going.

I remembered the dry-land training we did when I was rowing and applied those tactics to my workouts as well.  I started seeing the positive changes I was craving! My body rewarded me with sleek muscles and a shape I was finally proud of!

Then my daughter died… 

I thought I had it all on track. Then my 17 year old daughter, Katie,  died suddenly in a car accident.  To say that the carpet had been pulled out from under me is an understatement.  I had to learn to live and breathe all over again.  And to be truthful, every single day is a new journey.

A little voice reminded me that staying active and eating well always made me feel better. She was right.

The more I exercised, the more I craved healthy food again and my energy started to increase.  Healthy habits may not the answer to surviving grief or anything else, but it sure makes coping a whole lot easier.

It’s been a long haul, but I finally figured out what healthy food, exercise and a positive mindset can really do for your body, mind and spirit.  It feels good to be  healthy and I know my sweet Katie is here with me, encouraging me to live a healthy and purposeful life in good times and bad.

What I do…

I specialize in working with bereaved mothers who are ready to FEEL better.  I get it because I’ve been there (and am STILL there some days!).  At the end of the day, there’s no time and no energy it seems. The KEY is finding the BALANCE between your grief and taking care of YOU.

Re-learning how to live again wasn’t easy but I truly believe the first step is self-care and that means eating well and moving your body, bit by bit.
