If it has to do with losing weight and struggling to find the time, I can help.
I specialize in working with BUSY women who have no time and want to lose weight. I get it because I’ve been there (and am STILL there some days!). At the end of the day, there’s no time and no energy it seems. The KEY is finding the BALANCE between your hectic life and taking care of YOU.
I am the mom of a teenaged boy (who can be more exhausting than a toddler some days!), married to a busy health nut, work at the cancer clinic part time as a radiation therapist, run Strive 365 full time and love to get outside, stay active and experiment with healthy concoctions in my kitchen. Oh ya, I kinda have a love affair with wine too 🙂
Let’s start here:
Check all that apply. I’m here because:
- I am SO confused with all the ‘diet’ information out there, I don’t know where to start.
- I want to get my healthy self back and feel great again!
- I need help getting organized in the kitchen. Who has time to plan all their meals anyway?!
- I want an easy, QUICK and healthy approach to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.
- I want advice from someone who has experienced the stress of family/career/life balance.
There’s no wrong answer. If any or all of the above apply, you’re in the right place.
I’m Lisa and it’s my goal to help you become the healthiest YOU in the easiest way possible. I want to give you the tools that make lasting weight loss effective, easy and enjoyable. I want you to feel the benefits of better health, increased energy and confidence.
And…I can do it without overwhelming you.
I realized the other day that my weight loss story goes back a LONG way. When I was 17, I joined the local rowing team. I learned a lot of great things! I learned what hard physical work can do for the body. I learned how weight training can turn a pear-shaped fat girl into a strong and lean, fit and confident girl. But……I learned a lot of BAD things too. I learned how to drop 10 pounds in a week, just to make a weight category. I learned how to run in garbage bags and sweat out the weight. I learned how to dehydrate myself and not eat for days at a time.
The last time I raced, I made my lightweight category with ease and rowed to a first place finish. WooHoo!! National Champions!! All was good until I returned home. My friend’s father, who is a physician, took one look at me and told me to get home, drink as much water as I could and get to the ER if my confusion and heart arrhythmia didn’t go away by the next day. He felt I was in kidney failure or on my way. I will never forget the fear I felt. Someone must have been looking out for me because I returned to normal with proper hydration and nutrition.
So at the young age of 21, I had put myself at risk for lifelong health issues and was left clueless about losing weight. The problem was that I had always been prone to weight gain and now I couldn’t rely on my old ways to drop the weight. Since then I’ve tried it all: exercising like a maniac, LOTS of diets and crazy stuff I read online. It took me 8 years to retrain my brain and learn the healthy and effective way to lose weight.
Then I had kids….
I completely lost sight of myself and my health and felt horrible. I couldn’t stand the way I looked and wouldn’t undress in front of a mirror. The extra weight didn’t help my post-partum depression either.
I got tired of the different medications the doctor used to treat my depression and decided to try exercise as a means to feel better. It worked! I started with cardio and worked up a sweat 3 times per week. I was so tired that I actually started to sleep again! That was all the encouragement I needed to keep going.
I remembered the dry-land training we did when I was rowing and applied those tactics to my workouts as well. However, this time around I fed and nourished my body with clean and healthy foods. I started seeing the positive changes I was craving! My body rewarded me with sleek muscles and a shape I was finally proud of!
Funny how life keeps throwing curve balls at a person. I thought I had it all on track. Then something happened that I never would have dreamed of. My 17 year old daughter, Katie, died suddenly in a car accident. No good-byes, just a visit from the police. To say that the carpet had been pulled out from under me is an understatement. I had to learn to live and breathe all over again. And to be truthful, every single day is a new journey.
I can hardly remember those early days, but I do remember a little voice saying “go exercise, Mom, you’ll feel better” so I did. The feeling “better” was brief, but it encouraged me to keep going. The more I exercised, the more I craved healthy food again and my energy started to increase. Healthy habits may not the “answer” to surviving grief or anything else, but it sure makes coping a whole lot easier.
The other thing I learned – our minds are powerful and can be the catalyst for changing our bodies and healing ourselves from the inside. Our actions and reactions are really the only things we CAN control in life. A positive mindset is the only way to live and achieve our goals. I discovered Reiki in my journey through grief. It has brought balance, strength and a sense of relaxation back to my life. Without it, I’m not sure where I’d be today….
It’s been a long haul, but I finally figured out what a clean diet and positive mindset can really do for your body. It feels good to be healthy and I know my sweet Katie is here with me, encouraging me to live a healthy and purposeful life in good times and bad.
When I work with clients I want THEM to feel that awesome, empowered feeling. While I consider myself well-versed in healthy weight loss and fitness, my approach is all about YOU and helping YOU be successful in a way that fits your lifestyle.
There is nothing more satisfying than helping others find success.
